Scope of services eclipses private vendor offerings

With its incomparable staffing and information technology model, UMass Medical School’s Center for Health Care Financing offers comprehensive financial recovery services to Medicaid programs in states across the country. It is currently providing services in California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington. Collectively, the Center's scope of services for public agencies is what makes it unique.

  • Savings Initiatives
With a multifaceted approach, the Center employs savings initiatives from enhanced Medicare identification to Medicare Appeals, Medicare Buy-In Quality Review to Special Disability Workload solutions.
  • Third-Party Liability
The Center uses a wide range of tools to ensure that state Medicaid programs remain the payers of last resort: benefit identification, casualty and estate recovery, claims coordination, enhanced coordination of benefits, Medicare and commercial identification, and premium assistance.
  • Program Integrity
Staff members target fraud, waste, and abuse with tools that identify noncompliance and erroneously paid claims.
  • School-Based Medicaid Claiming
With the Center's resources, states have the means to increase revenue sources in the delivery and administration of direct medical services to Medicaid-eligible students with special needs.
  • Federal Claiming
The Center takes multiple approaches to identifying and claiming revenue: family planning, Medicaid consulting services, and rate development.
